Why we think this is a classy wine to drink

Citrus Dry Mineral Pear Apple

  • Sourced from the premium region of Chablis in France. This Chardonnay comes from an exclusive and small "lieu-dit" in the more famous Premier Cru vineyard Beauroy. Troesmes is a rare Premier Cru that you hardly find
  • This Chablis is from Le Domaine d'Henri, a top winemaking family in Chablis since the 17th century
  • Seductive aromas of citrus, zest and grapefruit with floral impressions such as spring blossom. Soft, juicy, intense and mineral with impressions of apple, conference pear and flint
  • Perfect white wine to pair with fish, light poultry dishes, salad, or pasta with fish and crustaceans

About The Winery

Michel Laroche is one of the big names in Chablis. His love for mineral Chardonnay from the Kimmeridgian soil in Northern France is very deep. Although he has retired, Michel's enthusiasm for Chablis has not waned such that he started a wine estate. This he runs together with his children and it is dedicated to his father Henri. Hence the name: Le Domaine d'Henri.

The vineyards of the Laroche family go back to the 17th century, but the wine business was divided among several generations; only two hectares went to Michel's father. This has since been expanded to six hectares in the 1960s. When Michel founded Domaine Laroche (the predecessor to Le Domaine d'Henri), he leased the family vineyards at the Domaine. In 2012 this lease contract of 8 hectares ended with Domaine Laroche and Michel decided to create his own domain, LE DOMAINE D'HENRI. He does not run this domain as a business, but as a hobby, lifestyle and philosophy. He does that with his three children, of which his two daughters are very actively in the new company.

Of the 8 hectares for the Domaine there are 3.5 in Maligny where his grandfather once lived and 4.5 ha in Fourchaume, the largest Premier Cru vineyard of Chablis. Some of the vines are extremely old (75 years) and are bottled as 'vieilles vignes' separately. There is a focus on biological viticulture.

The winery uses as little wood as possible, 11% in the Chablis and a little more in the Premier Cru's to about 35%. The wine is fermented spontaneously and filtered and clarified as little as possible to keep as much flavour as possible in the wine. Here Michel Laroche brings his years of experience with Chablis.
