Why we think this is a classy wine to drink

Blueberry Blackberry Tannin Black Cherry Plum Black Fruits

  • A concentrated French red wine from Madiran in South-West France and predominantly from the tannic Tannat grape, also home in South America. This wine is a blend of 60% Tannat and 40% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from 40 year old vines.
  • A very traditional example of Madiran red wines, owner Denis Capmartin is one of the best producers in this appellation.
  • Inky purple in colour with aromas of brambly fruit and cassis, concentrated black cherries with firm tannins. A fruit-intense, accessible style made in concrete vats and older barriques. Very well structured.
  • A versatile food wine. Enjoy with grilled meat, hard cheeses, pasta with meat sauce, red meat, stews and pork.

About The Winery

A strength of Château Barrejat is the huge capital of old vines. Since 1992 owner Denis Capmartin has produced four cuvées from these vines. Denis Capmartin is undoubtedly one of the better producers within this special appellation. In addition to Madiran red wines, Denis also makes delicate sweet wines with the provenance name Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh.
