The Castillo Labastida Rioja Crianza Tempranillo 2014 is a gently aged Rioja Crianza made from Tempranillo grapes and sourced from a dedicated group of 152 growers in Rioja that form Bodegas Labastida. From the home of Tempranillo in Rioja, Spain, the Castillo Labastida Rioja Crianza spent 12 months in oak to settle and gently mature the wine before release.
This is a medium bodied red showing plenty of primary fruit flavours, think black cherries and blackberries, and secondary flavours of spice and vanilla from its time in oak. Enjoy the 2014 Castillo Labastida Rioja Crianza with grilled meats or hard cheese.
About The Winery
Bodegas Labastida is a large co-operative winery located in the Rioja region of Spain. The co-operative brings together 152 local growers to produce their range of Rioja red and white wines. Established in 1964, the co-operative operates a combined 540 hectares of vineyards which have an average vine age of 25 years.
Today Bodegas Labastida is focused on Tempranillo red wines with other red grapes grown in the Rioja region being Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo. Smaller in production, their white wines are based on Viura and Malvasia grapes.
